win32 reading wide filenames (unicode)

I've searched the web and couldnt not find an answer to this problem.

I am using readdir to obtain a list of files in a folder. However, some
of those files contain unicode characters which are returned as "?".
How do I read the listing correctly using Activeperl 5.8.7?
