Yes, because that's the version that it downloaded and patched.

Hmm, now I'm completely confused... Today, the file is in

ftp://megrez.math.u-bordeaux.fr/pub/pari/unix/OLD/pari-2.1.7.tgz

while the module looks for

ftp://megrez.math.u-bordeaux.fr/pub/pari/unix/pari-2.1.7.tgz

Very strange that it succeeded for you...
