cygwin, xp and the llama

Howdy,

As the subject suggests, I am using cygwin on xp and working my way
through "Learning Perl" (2nd ed.). Yes I know there's a newer version;
I have the one I have, what I don't have is money for the new one.
Just thought I'd poke my nose in and see if anyone has any words of
wisdom or warning as I get going.
