and if you look at moronzilla's posts you will see that is a common
symptom. it is incapable of thinking outside limited specifications of
simple text munging problems. try to find a single post of its which
cover references or data structures or objects or anything beyond
substr. that is why its posts are ignore by everyone else (besides the
trolling and virulent replies). you have been warned. listen/reply to
moronzilla at your own risk.
My word! What childish gibberish!
For you, the reader, Uri serves well as icon of this deeply
rooted problem with Perl programming and our Perl community.
Larry Wall performed an excellent service through his development
of the Perl programming language. He is a brilliant man and well
serves all peoples around our world. Wall is to be commended and
respected for his efforts, then and today.
Subsequent to Wall introducing Perl to our world, others have taken
Perl and turned this language into a senseless monster which has
become so gigantic, so complex and so convoluted, Perl is no longer
a "practical" language as implied by name. This turning of Perl
into a five-hundred pound gorilla opens opportunities for other
sleeker and quicker critters to take over, rendering Perl extinct,
or soon to be extinct.
Lincoln Stein is an excellent language lawyer, as are many of the
boys of our Perl Community. However, he, like many so called leaders
of our Perl community, is not a good thinker. Stein started out with
his CGI.pm which is commendable. Early on, a good module. Today, his
module is useless bloatware, a two ton gorilla, which lures beginners
into exceptionally bad Perl programming practices. Usage of Stein's
CGI.pm is amongst the worst of choices in Perl programming.
What module is adamantly forced upon Perl beginners? The CGI.pm module.
Uri is a foremost icon of why Perl is falling to the wayside. Boys of
the Perl community, like Uri, adamantly promulgate Perl programs must
be gigantic, use as many modules as possible and address every single
possible programming event known, real and imaginary.
Perl has become as bloated as the egos of the "leaders" of our Perl
community. This is the root cause problem; fragile masculine egos.
All those boys want a piece of the action. All those boys want their
Andy Warhol fifteen minutes of fame, at least ten times a day. None of
those boys care to maintain Perl as an effective and viable programming
language, no, each wants their own idiosyncratic piece of code included.
End result is our five-hundred pound gorilla Perl which is so big Perl
can no longer stand and perform work. Nope, Perl just sits there being
stuffed with bananas by the leaders of our Perl community. Does not matter
Perl is today rendered impotent, as long as each boy is allowed to shove
in his banana then boast of what a big banana has he, and what a great
banana shover is he.
You readers who dare to be imaginative, who dare to be effective
and viable Perl programmers, who dare to address programming
solutions directly and to the point, you know what happens.
You will be plastered with wet smelly crap by egotistical Perl
community "leaders" who are truly nothing more than crap slinging
monkeys sharing a cage with their idolized five-hundred pound
Perl gorilla they worship like mindless minions.
I am quite sure Larry Wall did not intend for Perl to become
a classic Three Stooges comedy nor intend for Perl to become
a cage platform for crap slinging monkeys to assault and
insult the public.
Such childish boys! Such excellent ironic comedy!
I take pride in being a professional programmer and will remain
just such; I am blessed with not having a smelly rotten banana.
