The company I work for uses DBD::DB2 and DBI for many different levels of
AIX, perl, and DB2. We would like to make generic packages but aren't
too clear on the software dependencies of DBD and DBI.
Are DBD and DBI dependent on the level of perl used to "make" them? In
other words, can I make dbd and dbi using perl 5.4.4 and run it on a
system that has perl 5.5.1 installed?
Are dbd and dbi dependent on the AIX level? They don't appear to be
dependent.
Are dbd and dbi dependent on the level of the DB2 Application Development
Client? The DB2 client can talk to the DB2 server one level down and two
levels up. Does this hold true for dbd? If I use a V7 db2 clent, can
dbd communicate with DB2 version 6 to 9 (when available)?
Thanks for your time!
Don
