Patricia,

Thank you for your response. I took a closer look at the error and found
it actually complained about "libauth.so.1", a semi-system library.
The machine I'm playing with is for test/development only and doesn't have
everything a good server should have. After coping libauth* from other
box, it works now.

C.C. Liu,
I don't remember having the problems you mentioned below. I also used
DBD-Solid-0.20a for my compile. When I compiled, I ran it as root and I had
set some of the SOLID environment variables mentioned in the DBD's README
file.

Some one else in the DBI user group may have other ideas.

Patricia,

Thank you for your information about DBD::Solid package for Solaris OS as
mentioned at http://www.mail-archive.com/dbi-users@perl.org/msg19491.html

I downloaded
ftp://ftp.solidtech.com/pub/products/EmbeddedEngine/3.52/solidSDKe352s8x.tar
.Z

and compiled DBD-Solid-0.20a with it and "make install" successfully. Now I
encountered the run time error when call DBI:Solid like :
install_driver(Solid) failed: Can't load '/opt/perl-5.004
/lib/sun4-solaris/5.004/auto/DBD/Solid/Solid.so' for module DBD::Solid:
ld.so.1: perl: fatal: libauth.so.1: open failed: No such file or directory
at /opt/perl-5.004/lib/sun4-solaris/5.004/DynaLoader.pm line 155.

but the file is indeed there and accessible by user:
ls -l /opt/perl-5.004/lib/sun4-solaris/5.004/auto/DBD/Solid/Solid.so
-r-xr-xr-x 1 root cmsdev 57816 Jan 27 14:12 /opt/perl-5.004
/lib/sun4-solaris/5.004/auto/DBD/Solid/Solid.so
Have you ever had this kind of error and do you have any idea of how to
solve it? Thank you in advance for any help.
