Too late, since I didn't get any feedback the day I posted my question, and
needed to get everything back up and running for the evening production
jobs, and didn't really have a lot of time for extensive testing of the
cross-version binaries, I just downgraded to Perl 5.8.4 before installing
the DBI stuff that was compiled for that particular version - works fine. :)
