I am doing my homework while waiting for answers.
Answer for Q1:
because TNS_ADMIN environment path wasn't set in tj2.pl.
Answer for Q2:
I found before I added tns entry on oracle I also added same entry
locally in /opt/oracle/dbd/network/admin/tnsnames.ora. tj2.pl still
work after tns entry was commented out on server may be because the
my_ffr tns entry already in local tnsnames.ora. looks like TNS_ADMN
environment setting somehow got inherited in my shell environemnt.
Answer for Q3:
afer more research, I am looking at Oracle InstantClient now. It is
smaller and supported by Oracle. Besides there are many threads about
InstallClient and DBD::Oracle in this list.
