Perl 5.8.8 and DBI 1.50 crashes

Hello,
the following minimal code (using ActiveState Perl 5.8.8 and DBI 1.50
under Win2000 Prof)

#! e:/perl5.8/bin/perl

use strict;
use warnings;
use DBI;

crashes without any comment, only Windows error message:

"Die Anweisung in "0x0023bb37" verweist auf Speicher in "0x0000000000".

Der Vorgang "read" konnte nicht auf dem Speicher durchgeführt werden."

With Perl 5.6 I had no problems with DBI.

Using the image libs Image::Size etc. I had the same problems with Perl
5.6, these libs only run under Perl 5.8

Any suggestions?
