What you are calling "sql file" is actually an *Oracle SQLPlus file*.

I just read about SQL::Library in O'Reilly's new Perl Hacks book (Hack 23. Build a SQL Library). I haven't used it, but it looks like it might be helpful for the Ravi's situation.
