Can't test without successful make

Hello world

I have this problem using perl shell to install cpan modules.

I keep getting this

Running make test
Can't test without successful make
Running make install
make had returned bad status, install seems impossible

I have tried removing the .cpan directory, but this has not made any difference, if someone could assist, I would me most greatful.
