SUBMISSION DEADLINE EXTENDED TO FEBRUARY 29,
2004===================================================CALL FOR PAPERS
Special Issue of Archives of Control Sciences (ACS)
on Constraint Programming for Decision and Control
Guest Editor: Roman Barták
Constrained Programming is a rapidly developing technology concerned with
solving - by means of declarative programs - difficult combinatorial
decision problems. The large spectrum of tools and methods available at
present as well as the large number of successful applications clearly
demonstrate that Constraint Programming is a truly practical tool of immense
potential. Despite this potential, the field, because of its not too popular
Prolog background, seems still rather exotic to people who could benefit
from using its tools.
The goal of this special issue of ACS is threefold:
1) To present tutorial papers serving as introduction and guide to the
state-of-the-art for newcomers to the field
2) To present some advanced applications showing the true power of
Constraint Programming
3) To discuss some important theoretical issues.
Topics of interest include (but are not limited to):
. Constraint Satisfaction algorithms - domain filtering, propagation,
search,
. Theoretical Foundations of Constraint Programming
. Constraint Programming and Operations Research
. Industrial Applications - scheduling, planning, placing,
. Educational Applications - course- and examination timetabling,
. Constraint Programming Software and Implementation Techniques
. Teaching Issues
For the format of the submissions as well as a reviewing procedure, refer to
the current guidelines of the journal www.ia.polsl.gliwice.pl/acs
The authors are encouraged to submit manuscripts electronically [PDF or
Postscript format] to the guest editor by February 29, 2004
(EXTENDED)Publication is scheduled for the second half of 2004.
