Last week (around Wednesday) , I download the latest swi-prolog . It
ran in an XP PC of the library ,but didn't run in my windows 98 PC .
Now I try it in my office's windows 98 PC , still can't run. I hope the
developer team can solve this problem.

Win98?... It is not longer supported by Microsoft and is located in
category "trash". Get real machine with up-to-date operating system.

And the download link says:

Self-installing executable of version 5.6.12 for Windows NT/2000/XP.
Users of Windows 95/98/ME should use version 5.4.7

Version 5.6.x are Unicode applications and unicode support in 95/98/me
isn't good enough. There is a library by M$ to make Unicode binaries for
these old versions, but the license conditions deny usage in open source
software. Besides, its too much trouble for something nobody should have
used ever and definitely shouldn't be using anymore. If you can't afford
new hardware, install Linux :-)
