Look into the Oracle Instant Client: <http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/oci/instantclient/instantclient.html>
(might require a -free- OTN registration)
Be sure to download the smallish "sdk" if you want to compile client code
(e.g. cx_oracle - highly recommended!)
