form geometry manager in Tk 8.4 ?

Hello all,

I've been away from the Tcl community for a long time. Some months
ago, I found in the Tk 8.4 announced features that a new geometry
manager would be included, namely the form geometry manager. How happy
was I, because I'm waiting for this for ages (I remember a thread back
in 1998 about it).

Then it happens that the latest release doesn't include this feature.
More, I can't even find one reference to that possible inclusion. Did
I dream ?

I have read some discussions about improving the "grid" geometry
manager. IMO, including the "form" geometry manager would be another
good idea. As far as I know, it is a popular "Tk" feature in the
Python and Perl worlds.

I don't want to be bound with Tix just to use one feature.

My questions are :
- is this some sort of forbidden topic ?
- has anyone tried to extract Tix geometry manager to ease its use
with the "standard" Tcl/Tk distribution ?
- or are there any plans to include Tix in a future "batteries
included" distribution like ActiveState's binary distrib ?

Thanks for any information.

Franck
