Hi there!
I've few friends which writes some scripts... in bash, perl, sometimes in
python. They don't like TCL becouse of two things:
1) motif look of Tk (it's very famous to say that about TCL/TK, isn't
it? :) ).
2) 'If I would like to write some powerful script in TCL/TK with some
extensions, I have to include these extensions or write in INTSALL file
about them. It makes end-user annoyed'.
And here comes my quiestions :)
1) Is there some very hard rule to don't rewrite Tk with some better look? I
know that there are developers needed for that, but I've read somewhere
about fltk. It looks much better. Why it (for example) can't be a deafult
TCL toolkit?
2) Is there any reason, why some very nice TCL extensions aren't included in
TCL package? It's strong point of python/perl, indeed. I don't know - what
and who will lose anything if TCL whould be distributed with extensions
like itcl, blt, ...and few more, which I don't remember now. But generally
there are few extensions, very powerful and very useful which IMHO should
be included to TCL package. Python is distribytet wyth many extensions and
what's wrong with it? IMO noting. Then TCL would be more respectable than
it is (what comes from my dialogue with my friends).
