Problem with Thread cvs head code and gdbm

The current cvs head for the Thread module doesn't seem
to allow one to specify where gdbm is located. Instead, it looks
(appropriately) in $exec_prefix, $prefix, then goes on to
/usr/local/lib and /usr/lib .

However, if the user has it installed elsewhere, there doesn't appear
to be any method of specifying this.

Am I missing some overridding variable to let configure know where
the library is located on my machine?
