Give it a try and, please, report on whether it works for you.
Another option might be converting your DVIs to PostScript
(via dvips) and that to Tk via pstoedit
Yet another option is converting DVI to GIF via
(you guessed it!) dvigif (see http://wiki.tcl.tk/3301)
