Secure socket scripting...

Hello,
I'm new to sockets so I could use a little help. I would like to
encrypt my data that I'm sending from my client and decrypt it on the
server side. I have the ssl part working but I would also like to sign
the data to ensure that the data which was sent was authentic. Can
someone please point me in the right direction, books or examples would
be great.

Thanks,
- Charles
