I want to write a Tcl app(let?) which will run a regular check on a

the Gnome notification panel. I'm running FC4 in case it matters.
I'd also like to associate a menu with the icon.
I can find plenty of examples in GTK and some in perl, but in tcl
I've drawn a blank. Is there a package that will help with this?
There is a package called Gnocl: http://www.dr-baum.net/gnocl/. It
connects Tcl with Gtk and Gnome... I don't know specifics on how to
use it with the Gnome notification area or other Gnome related stuff
- but I read somewhere that it makes such things possible that you
are looking for. It is certanily a interresting topic, and if you
find out more, it would be interresting to hear your experience.

Eckhard, many thanks for that - it does look promising. I've
downloaded and installed it, though I've hit a learning curve problem
because I find I need to know about Bonobo server files. This may
take some time...
Cheers
