There is the package on sourceforge at the URL

but these files are .dmg files, which I believe are some sort of MacOSX
installer thingy, which does me no good under Linux, unless there is
some *linux* hack available for these files.

It's from the Sourceforge link you referenced above; it was built for OS
X 10.3 (PPC) and should meet your requirements. I had it installed on an
older machine and just tarred it up for you to download. Hope this helps.
