Not yet as mature as we'd like. Part of the complication is that many
other bits of the text widget are rewritten in 8.5 as well (we've
finally managed to get smooth scrolling, though that's fantastically
complicated internally) and so determining which part is causing
instability has been tricky. But if you're not using word wrapping or
text elision, I'd imagine that peers should work fine. If not (and we
need people to try this out in real code) please let us know so we can
fix it; the sooner we know there's a problem, the sooner there can be an
absence of said problem. :-)
