Re: preview of new Tk documentation site

I've started putting together a new website to serve as an up-to-date documentation and resource center for Tk 8.5+ (not only for Tcl, but for other languages too).

While it's still early stages, any initial feedback you might have would be a big help to me filling in the rest of the site.

You can find it at http://www.tkdocs.com

Nice!

Arguably, one of the most important bits of "information you need to build high-quality Tk user interfaces" is where to download Tcl/Tk. I only recently discovered Getting Started on the wiki (http://wiki.tcl.tk/11483) and think it very neatly organizes the various ways to get the most common bits.

I'd like to recommend a big, bold "Get Tcl/Tk Now!" graphic in a prominent position on the home page that links to a page similar to Getting Started.

It might be good to have a section for articles, though I guess the weblog might do just as well. I'd be happy to take the old articles I wrote for tclscripting.com and move/reformat them for this site to prime the pump. My lifestyle changed so drastically shortly after I created that site it never took off like I had intended, and I'm not sure it will in the near future.

Send me a template of how you would like the widget roundup to look and I'll gladly contribute to that section. I don't currently have a *nix box at my disposal (the *horrors*!) but I can get windows and mac screenshots, and maybe I can dust off my copy of X11 on the mac for unixy screenshots.

If you don't yet have a template for such a page, I'll volunteer to create one. Just say the word.

Write me at my gmail account for a higher probability of staying out of my spam bin. My account name there is bryan.oakley. Surely that paragraph is enough to satisfy humans but foil the harvesters. *sigh*

Mark, kudos. *very* nice.
