Re: Image viewing - a different approach

If you want to make a "File Association Link" widget for a GUI, you have
to define a command to do something with an instance of that widget. I
was offering a starting point, something that could potentially be
turned into a package, potentially included in tklib.

You misunderstood, unfortunately.

The whole thing is rather about file associations; the "shortcut" was just
an example, how it could like from the user's side - as "something to
click onto". There can be a label widget fitted with a small picture, it can
be an underscored "link-like" line, like in usual text widget - but it
doesn't matter. The matter is about all this, which is invisible.

I'm asking: does there exist a possibility to *not define* any commands, but
just to tell to the OS ("tell" via doubleclick on that "quasi-shortcut")
something like: "hey, here's a file manual.pdf - it's your job to deal with
this further...". In other words: to make OS see the "quasi-shortcut" as
"real-shortcut", like the ones made on the desktop. See also my answer to
Bryan's post.

I'm really sorry: I'm unable to be more clear. Perhaps my not so well
english is to blame, I don't know.
