How do I tell?
xlsfonts | grep -i helvetica
shows 560 lines, eg:
-adobe-helvetica-medium-r-normal--8-80-75-75-p-46-iso8859-1
So I think I really have an Helvetice in some variant.

| on the printer to get used? Or is the printer device is configured
| to do NOT download fonts for usage, if not present?
Well, this would mean that the canvas would have to include the
relevant fonts if *not* using one of the standard Postscript fonts.
I don't think this is the way to go...
